Abstract:The global population is continuously growing, and a solution must be found to avoid the competition between animal feed and human food for arable land. Agricultural by-products have become an important part of the circular economy, such as adding exogenous enzymes, especially carbohydrate enzymes, to the diet. This review introduces the diversity and versatility of carbohydrate enzymes, particularly cellulases, hemicellulases, and pectinases. It also emphasizes the benefits of adding carbohydrate enzyme-containing composite enzyme preparations to the diets of monogastric animals on animal production performance and health. The challenges, constraints, and future developments faced by feed enzyme suppliers are discussed, aiming to promote the use and development of enzyme preparation solutions in industry to sustainably provide food for humans in the future.
