Abstract:The global population is continuously growing, and a solution must be found to avoid the competition between animal feed and human food for arable land. Agricultural by-products have become an important part of the circular economy, such as adding exogenous enzymes, particularly carbohydrate enzymes, to diets. This review introduces the diversity and versatility of carbohydrate enzymes, especially cellulases, hemicellulases, and pectinases, and emphasizes the benefits of adding carbohydrate enzyme-containing composite enzyme preparations to the diets of monogastric animals on animal production performance and health. It discusses the evolution, constraints, and future challenges faced by feed enzyme suppliers, aiming to promote the use and development of enzyme preparation solutions in the industry to sustainably provide food for humans in the future.
