Mechanism of biological control to Anthracnoses in mango by antimicrobial cinnamaldehyde
Abstract:Toxicity of antimicrobial cinnamaldehyde to Colletotrichum gloeosporioides of anthracnoses in mango was studied by plate growth rate method, the biocontrol efficiency of cinnamaldehyde was tested and the changes of defense enzyme activity were detected as well. The results showed that the control efficiency of cinnamaldehyde on mango anthracnoses was 56.67% under the concentration of 30 mg·L-1.The EC50 values on mycelial growth and conidium germination of C.gloeosporioides were 38.51and 22.34 mg·L-1 respectivetly.Furthermore, the cinnamaldehyde could degrade the conidial cell wall and completely restrain the formation of spore when the concentration was higher than 40 mg·L-1.The results of physiological and biochemical test showed that after pathogen infected mango, and other reactive oxygen substance content increased.Cinnamicaldehyde could suppress and kill the bacteria, reduce the production of such material, and maintain the stability of defense enzymes. It could make the host maintain a normal physiological state to suppress and reduce the incidence of disease.
