Abstract:In recent years, negative pressure wound therapy(NPWT)has been widely used for various acute and chronic wounds. However, during treatment,moisture-associated skin damage(MASD)around the wound often causes discomfort to patients and adversely affects wound healing outcomes.Preventing MASD is therefore a key aspect of successful NPWT management. This paper summarizes the main causes of MASD during NPWT,including the therapy mode and instillation treatment, the influence of negative pressure levels on exudate management, and patient-related factors such as obesity and excessive sweating.Furthermore, strategies to prevent MASD are discussed, including protecting the surrounding skin, preventing skin breakdown, providing moisture barriers, and absorbing exudate to avoid skin maceration. These insights aim to provide a reference for clinical practice.
