Abstract:An iatrogenic sinus tract refers to an abnormal connecting channel formed as a result of medical procedures, which bring serious pain to patients and increase the consumption of medical resources. Its occurrence is closely related to iatrogenic injuries such as surgical trauma, infection, and tissue necrosis.Clinical manifestations primarily include leakage and local infection.High-resolution imaging examinations, including computed tomography(CT)and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI),can clarify the diagnosis.Treatment methods include conservative treatment, surgical intervention, and minimally invasive therapies. The current trend involves using minimally invasive approaches, such as the injection of biomaterials,to promote healing, which achieves a high success rate with minimal trauma.Common complications include infection and poor wound healing. The key to preventing iatrogenic sinus tract is to avoid iatrogenic injury and pay attention to drainage and anti-infection measures after injury.Future research directions include in-depth studies on the pathogenesis, development of novel filler materials, and improving the efficacy of minimally invasive treatments.
