Abstract:Objective:To analyze the epidemiological characteristics and trends of human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)or acquired immune deficiency syndrome(AIDS)in Wujiang District,Suzhou from 2014 to 2023,providing evidence for targeted prevention strategies and resource allocation. Methods:Newly diagnosed HIV or AIDS cases were extracted from the Chinese Center for Disease and Prevention, filtered by"provincially verified"status and current residence in Wujiang District.Joinpoint Regression Program(v5.2.0)was used to analyze incidence trends. Results:From 2014 to 2023,652 new HIV or AIDS cases were confirmed in Wujiang District, with incidence increasing from 2.76 to 4.70 per 100,000 population. The proportion of cases aged≥50 years rose significantly from 34.09%(15/44)to 60.20%(59/98).Result of time trend analysis showed that the incidence of male,HIV-infected,heterosexual transmitted infection and divorced or widowed marital status in the 50 and above age group showed a significant upward trend, with the average annual change percentage(AAPC)being 5.55%(95%CI 2.68-8.50,P<0.01),11.99%(95%CI 7.04-17.16,P<0.01),7.42%(95%CI 3.29-11.72,P<0.01),and 27.60%(95%CI 8.94-49.46,P=0.01),respectively.In terms of age group, the incidence of disease in people aged 60 years and above(60-69 years,70-79 years, and 80 years and above)showed a significant upward trend, and the AAPC was 32.29%(95%CI 19.94-45.92,P<0.01),25.85%(95%CI 0.08-58.26,P=0.05),and 17.37%(95%CI 3.45-33.16,P<0.05),respectively.The model analysis results showed that the incidence of heterosexual infections in the age group 50 years and older was divided into two phases, with a significant increase from 2017 to 2023,with an annual percentage change(APC)of 35.15%(95%CI 11.59-63.68,P=0.01).Conclusions:HIV or AIDS incidence in Wujiang District showed sustained growth from 2014 to 2023,particularly among older adults(≥50 years)via heterosexual transmission, underscoring the need for targeted geriatric interventions.
