Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effects of proximal femoral anti-rotation nail technique (PFNA)in treating intertrochanteric fractures.Methods:Forty-six patients with intertrochanteric fracture were randomly divided into two groups. In the control group (n=23),patients received treatment of steel plate with lock. In the PFNA group (n=23), patients were given PFNA treatment. The curative effect was compared between the two groups. Results:Compared to the control group, patients in PFNA group had shorter operation time [(80.5±24.2)minutes vs. (105.4±19.2)minutes] and fracture healing time[(84.2 ± 11.5)days vs. (93.5 ± 14.2)days],with less blood loss during the operation [(124.6±44.3)ml vs. (477.2±169.5)ml],and the difference was significant (P<0.05). In PFNA group,1 patient suffered from broken fixator. In the control group,4 patients suffered valgus or varus deformity, and extrusion of the im-plant accurred in 2 patients. The rate of complications in PFNA group (4.3%)was significantly lower than that of the control group (26.1%,P<0.05).Conclusions:PFNA is an effective treatment for intertrochanteric fractures,as it is simpler in operation, safe and with reliable fixation.
