Abstract:Abatract:[Objective]Identify the application effect of exogenous NO on drought resistance of maize.[Method]The effects of exogenous NO on the main drought resistance physiological indexes of maize seedlings leaf under drought stress were studied by using PEG-6000 simulated drought stress and sodium nitrate (SNP) as NO donor.[Result]Drought stress significantly increased the content of leaf hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), malondialdehyde (MDA), glutathione (GSH) and ascorbic acid (Vc)(p<0.05), and enhanced the activity of glutathione peroxidase (GPX), ascorbate peroxidase (APX) and glutathione reductase (GR);the drought stress significantly decreased the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT)(p<0.05). Different SNP concentrations had no significant effect on glutathione (GSH) content, but significantly reduced the content of H2O2 and MDA(p<0.05). The Vc content of 50μmol/L and 100μmol/L SNP was significantly increased by 13.4%and 16.1%(p<0.05), re-spectively, but 150 μmol/L SNP had no significant effect on Vc content. Moreover, the activity of SOD, CAT, GPX and APX were significantly increased under different concentrations of SNP(p<0.05).[Conclusion]There-fore, exogenous NO can enhance the drought resistance of maize seedlings by improving the antioxidant ability and alleviating the oxidative stress caused by drought.
