Abstract:This paper compared the impactof conventional irrigation and irrigation adjusted by rainfall on emis-sions of CH4 and N2O emissions from paddy fields. The emissions of the two gases were measured using static chamber and gas chromatography. The results showed that under irrigationadjusted byrainfall, the emissions of CH4 and N2O peaked at tillering and booting stages. During the growth season, the average emissions of CH4 and N2O under the adjusted irrigation were 16.77 mg/(m2 · h)and 6.64 μg/(m2 · h)respectively, decreasing by 74.47%and 67.06% respectively compared with those under the conventional irrigation(p<0.05). Adjusting irrigation by rainfall in paddy fields reduced irrigation frequency and water consumption, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
