Effects of Plastic Film Mulching on Soil Water and Heat Conditions Based on ECH_2O
Abstract：In this study,high-resolution soil water-heat-salt automatic monitoring systems（ECH2O） were used to continuously monitor the maize fields in fixed points in arid area of Northwest China.According to the observation data,plastic film mulching had remarkable effect on improving soil surface water and heat conditions.The water content of soil surface with plastic film mulching was lower than without it,while the soil temperature was higher.At the 10 cm depth,the water content of soil was lower with plastic film mulching than without it;but at the 20 cm and 40 cm depths,the result was opposite.Plastic film mulching was able to promote the soil temperature,but the degree was different at different periods of maize and different soil depths.At the 10cm depth,the soil temperature with plastic film mulching was higher than without it,while at the 40 cm and 60 cm depths the difference was smaller.
