Ridge Basis Functions Collocation Method for Soil Water Movement in Unsaturated Soils during Evaporation
Abstract:To simulate water distribution in field experiment, a new numerical method, Ridge Basis Functions Collocation Method, is presented to give the numerical solutions of one-dimensional water movement in unsaturated soil during evaporation (the water uptake by plant roots). Compared with the traditional finite difference method and finite element method, the new method IS easier, more convenient and practical for use. And the advantageous of the method is less calculating ttme and small error. According to the comparison between the results of simulation and data of field experiment, it shows that the simulated values are coincide well with measured values, and the simulating precision are above 98 % ,which shows that the proposed model can relatively truly reflect the status of soil moisture movement under evaporation.
