Comparision of Irrigation Efficiency under Different Scales

Abstract：Experiment of irrigation efficiency was conducted in Zhanghe Irrigation District,irrigation efficiency under different scales were calculated by head-tail method (HT,measured net irrigation water use and gross irrigation water use) and dynamic water measure method (DWM),the variation laws of irrigation efficiency over scales and the comparision between two different methods were investigated.The result shows irrigation efficiency decreasing remarkably with scaling up.The irrigation efficiency values of HT were a little more than DWM's at most scales,the reason is that HT has considered the irrigation water use efficiency of whole year and the reuse of drainage water.The decreasing scope of different scales shows the main irrigation water losses were from lateral to branch canal,and branch to main canal scale,where the main rehabilitation and water-saving reform should be carried out.
