Abstract:Objective To explore the impact of continuous positive airway pressure(CPAP)on blood glucose variability of type 2 diabetic(T2DM)patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS).Methods A total of 50 T2DM patients combined with OSAHS were randomly divided into the Control Group and the Comprehensive Treatment Group. The Control Group was given conventional treatment while the Comprehensive Treatment Group was additionally given CPAP on the basis of the conventional treatment, with a total treatment course of 3 months. The two groups were compared in terms of the mean blood glucose(MBG),standard deviation of blood glucose(SDBG),total blood glucose coefficient of variation(total BGCV),and nocturnal MBG,SDBG and BGCV before and after treatment. Results After 3 months of treatment, both groups had the MBG,SDBG and total BGCV decreased compared with those before treatment, and the Comprehensive Treatment Group showed a more significant decrease in SDBG(P<0.01);There was no statistical difference in the total BGCV between the two groups(P>0.05);Both groups had the nocturnal MBG and SDBG significantly decreased compared with those before treatment(P<0.01),the Comprehensive Treatment Group had the nocturnal BGCV also significantly decreased, which were all lower than those of the Control Group at the same time period(P<0.01 or 0.05).There was no significant change in nocturnal BGCV in the Control Group. Conclusion CPAP can reduce the nocturnal BGCV and improve the stability of blood glucose in T2DM patients combined with OSAHS.
