Clinical study on treatment of laryngeal papillomas in children

Abstract:Objective:To explore an effective treatment for laryngeal papillomas in children.Methods:Forty-three children with laryngeal papillomas were treated by tumor removal under self-retaining laryngoscope.Of them,29 were treated by surgery alone(SA group),11 by surgery in combination with microwave,radio-frequency or painting with Brucea oil(SC group),and 3 by injection of interferon after operation(SI group).Results:The total cure rate was 53.5%,and the cure rates for SA,SC and SI groups were 41.4%,81.8%,and 66.7%,respectively.The therapeutic efficacy in SC group was better than that in SA group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The combination of surgery and microwave,radio-frequency or painting with Brucea oil after operation could improve therapeutic efficacy of laryngeal papillomas in children.
