Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the practical value of ultrasonic doppler flow imaging of umbilical artery on prenatal examination. Methods:Umbilical artery blood flow was detected with ultrasonic doppler flow imaging in 260 gravidas(pregnant age ranging from 37 to 42 weeks),and S/D value of the umbilical artery blood flow imaging and results of non stress test(NST) were compared with birth weight, contamination of amniotic fluid, entanglement or shortage of umbilical cord, and birth asphyxia. Results:In 69 cases with abnormal S/D value, there were 8 infants(11.6%) with low birth weight,30(43.5%) with contamination of amniotic fluid,20(29.0%) with entanglement or shortage of umbilical cord, and 12(17.4%) with birth asphyxia. The incidence of perinatal complications in abnormal S/D group was much higher than that in normal S/D group. Conclusion:Ultrasonic doppler flow imaging of umbilical artery may play an important role in judging the fetal abnormality;when combined with NST,it is able to enhance the quality of prenatal care and predict the perinatal prognosis.
