Abstract:Objective:To study the effect of angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor(ACEI),Benazepril,on the accumulation of mesangial matrix and the excretion of proteinuria in MsPGN rats. Methods:The MsPGN was induced by intravenous injection of ATS in the SD rats. From the day of injection of ATS,the rats were treated with Benazepril and the proteinuria was measured everyday. All rats were killed on the twenty-fourth day of injection of ATS,the kidneys were removed, and the mesangial matrix was measured by ELISA method. Results:Proteinuria of Benazepril-treated rats was significantly lower than that of untreated rats [(30.91±22.88) mg/24 h vs(38.53±25.30)mg/24 h(P<0.05).The ratios of the Collagen Ⅳ,Collagen Ⅲ,LN and FN of the Benazepril treated rats to those of untreated rats were 1∶1.93,1∶3.87,1∶2.47 and 1∶2.08,respectively.Conclusion:Benazepril can significantly reduce the accumulation of mesangial matrix and the excretion ofthe proteinuria in MsPGN rats, which may be its major ameliorative mechanism on the renal function.
