Abstract:Objective:To observe the effects of curcumin on the biological behaviors of a high metastatic human lung cancer subline(PGCL3).Methods:PGCL3 cells were pretreated with 60 μ mol/L curcumin for 3 days in vitro. The influence of the curcumin on cell proliferation were observed by making growth curve and colony-forming ability in semisolid agar culture test. The invasiveness of the cells were evaluated by adhesion test to laminin substrate, motility test through the polycarbonate filter membrane and invasion test to degrade and cross matrigel in Boyden chamber. Results:At the concentration of 60 μ mol/L curcumin resulted in significant decrease of the cells proliferation rate,colony-forming ability in semisolid agar culture, adhesion to laminin substrate, migration capacity through the polycarbonate filter membrane, and invasion ability through matrigel (P<0.01 orP<0.05). Conclusion:Curcumin pretreatment can inhibit the malignant phenotype of a coloned metastatic human lung cancer subline, and the study may provide some reliable experimental data for the therapeutic effect of curcumin on tumor invasion and metastasis.
