Abstract:3D Slicer,an open-source medical imaging analysis platform, has gained broad adoption across car-diovascular,respiratory,and urological specialties owing to its robust functionality, customizability, and extensive commu-nity support. In recent years, its role in neurosurgery has advanced from an auxiliary tool to a core engine supporting diag-nosis and treatment. With its modular architecture and open-source ecosystem,3D Slicer enables rapid integration of cut-ting-edge technologies-including artificial intelligence(AI),augmented reality(AR),and cloud computing-thereby accelerating the evolution of neurosurgery toward multimodal fusion, intelligent decision-making,and real-time surgical interaction. This review summarizes the current applications of 3D Slicer in neurosurgery, including preoperative planning, intraoperative navigation, postoperative assessment, and medical education, and highlights its significance in precision surgery, personalized treatment, and clinical decision support. Moreover, the advantages and limitations of 3D Slicer are discussed, and future directions are proposed regarding its integration with AI,virtual reality, and multimodal imaging,as well as its potential to reshape neurosurgical workflows and research paradigms.
