Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of transcranial direct current stimulation(tDCS)combined with speech therapy and audiovisual integration training on children with autism spectrum disorder(ASD)and intellectual disa-bility.Methods A total of 120 children with ASD and intellectual disability treated between February 2022 and Februar-y 2024 were enrolled.Using a random number table, they were equally divided into a control group(n=60)and a combi-nation group(n=60).The control group received tDCS therapy alone, while the combination group received additional speech therapy and audiovisual integration training. Both groups underwent treatment for six months.Clinical efficacy,as well as ASD symptoms, emotional state, intellectual development, motor skills, and social adaptability before and after treatment were compared. Results After 6 months of treatment, the total effective rate in the combination group was sig-nificantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).Scores on the Autism Behavior Checklist(ABC)and the Childhood Autism Rating Scale(CARS)decreased in both groups, with greater improvements in the combination group(P<0.05).Scores on the Gesell Developmental Schedules, the Gross Motor Function Measure(GMFM-88),the Pea-body Developmental Motor Scales-Fine Motor(PDMS-FM),the Infant-Junior High School Students Social Living Skills Scale(S-M),and the Psychoeducational Profile,3rd Edition(PEP-3)all increased in both groups, with more significant improvements in the combination group(all P<0.05).Conclusion tDCS combined with speech therapy and audiovisual integration training can effectively alleviate ASD symptoms in children with ASD and intellectual disability,im-proving their language skills, emotional regulation, cognitive development, motor abilities, and social adaptability.
