Abstract:Objective To explore the correlation between serum response factor(SRF)and the progression of chronic kidney disease(CKD),and to assess its value in evaluating renal damage in CKD patients. Methods A total of 104 CKD patients admitted to the Department of Nephrology at Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital between August 2022 and February 2023 were enrolled as the CKD group.Meanwhile,51 healthy individuals undergoing routine physical examination during the same period served as the healthy control group.Serum SRF levels in both groups were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Spearman correlation analysis was used to evaluate the association between SRF levels and renal function indicators in CKD patients.Robust linear regression models were constructed to identify risk factors influencing estimated glomerular filtration rate(eGFR)in CKD.Results The median serum SRF concentration in the CKD group was significantly higher than that in the healthy control group(156.6 pg/mL vs.115.1 pg/mL,P<0.001).Spearman correlation analysis showed that serum SRF levels were significantly negatively correlated with eGFR(r=-0.582,P<0.001),and positively correlated with serum creatinine(r=0.535,P<0.001)and blood urea nitrogen(r=0.341,P<0.001).Multivariate robust linear regression analysis indicated that serum SRF concentra-tion and hemoglobin levels were independent risk factors affecting eGFR in CKD patients. Conclusion Serum SRF levels are associated with the degree of renal impairment in CKD patients and represent an independent risk factor for declining renal function.
