Abstract:Objective To investigate the expression levels of sterol regulatory element binding protein 1(SREBP1)and stearoyl-CoA desaturase 1(SCD1)in nonsmall cell lung cancer(NSCLC)and to evaluate their associa-tions with clinicopathological features and patient prognosis. Methods Clinical and pathological data from 125 NSCLC patients were retrospectively collected.Immunohistochemical analysis(using the SP method)was employed to determine the protein expression levels of SREBP1 and SCD1 in lung tumor tissues. Results SREBP1 expression was significantly higher in NSCLC tissues compared with adjacent noncancerous tissues(x2=31.827,P<0.001)and was closely correla-ted with the tumor TNM stage(P<0.001).Moreover,patients with high SREBP1 expression exhibited a significantly lower 5 year survival rate(P<0.001).Similarly,SCD1 expression in NSCLC tissues was elevated compared with adja-cent tissues(x2=12.152,P<0.001)and was significantly associated with TNM stage, smoking history, and gender.Patients with high SCD1 expression had a lower 5year overall survival rate(P<0.022).A positive correlation was ob-served between SREBP1 and SCD1 expression(rs=0.623 3,P<0.000 1).Conclusion High expression levels of SREBP1 and SCD1 are closely associated with increased tumor invasiveness and poor prognosis in NSCLC patients. These markers may serve as potential molecular targets for prognostic evaluation and personalized therapy in NSCLC.
