Abstract:Objective To revise and simplify the Reproductive Concerns After Cancer Scale(RCAC),develop a short-form version, and evaluate its reliability and validity, with the aim of providing a convenient tool to assess repro-ductive concerns among cancer patients. Methods Based on the theoretical framework of the original scale,a prelimina-ry draft of the short-form version was constructed through literature review, focus group discussions, and Delphi expert consultation.A pilot survey was conducted among 30 cancer patients, and revisions were made based on their feedback.A formal survey was then conducted among 1,248 colorectal cancer patients to evaluate the psychometric properties of the re-vised scale. Results The final short-form RCAC consisted of 7 items.Exploratory factor analysis extracted a single common factor that explained 70.324%of the total variance, with factor loadings ranging from 0.819 to 0.892.Confirma-tory factor analysis demonstrated good model fit for the one-factor structure. The Spearman correlation coefficient between the short-form and the original scale was 0.708(P<0.05).The Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.929,split-half reliability was 0.932,and test-retest reliability was 0.979.Conclusion The short-form RCAC demonstrates excellent reliability and validity, and can serve as an efficient tool for assessing reproductive-related psychological concerns in cancer patients.
