Abstract:Objective To introduce the revised Death Depression Scale and evaluate the reliability and validity of its Chinese version among clinical nurses. Methods The original scale was adapted into Chinese through translation,back-translation,cultural adaptation, and preliminary testing.A convenience sampling method was used to survey 667 nurses from a city in Guangdong province to assess the scale's reliability and validity. Results The Chinese version of the Death Depression Scale includes 3 dimensions and 21 items. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the scale was 0.842,and the test-retest reliability was 0.839.The content validity index was 0.820.Exploratory factor analysis extracted 3 common factors, with a cumulative variance contribution rate of 68.59%.Confirmatory factor analysis showed good model fit(x2=3 710.997,P<0.001;x2/df=2.166;CFI=0.968;GFI=0.920;AGFI=0.898;RMSEA=0.053),and all factor loadings were greater than 0.4 and statistically significant. Conclusion The Chinese version of the Death Depres-sion Scale demonstrates good reliability and validity among nurses. It is recommended for use in clinical settings and re-search to assess death-related depression in clinical nurses.
