Advances in the mechanism and risk factors of chronic postsurgical pain

Abstract:Acute postoperative pain progresses to chronic postsurgical pain(CPSP)in 20%-30%of patients,representing a significant clinical challenge.In 2019,the International Association for the Study of Pain(IASP)recog-nized CPSP as a distinct disease entity in the 11thedition of the International Classification of Diseases(ICD-11).CPSP is more prevalent than other postoperative complications and can significantly impact patients'physical and psychological well-being,with severe impairment in the quality of life for about 1%of patients with CPSP,leading to substantial eco-nomic burdens.
