Abstract:Objective To analyze the clinical characteristics and risk factors of septic patients with bacterial in-fections.Methods A total of 2 158 patients with positive bacterial cultures from October 1,2019,to September 30,2020,were collected, including 229 cases in the septic group and 1 929 cases in the non-septic group.General informa-tion,laboratory test results, medical history of underlying diseases, and clinical manifestations were collected and com-pared between the two groups.Relevant risk factors were screened using T-test or approximate T-test for continuous variables,Pearson chi-square test,Fisher's exact test for categorical variables, and non-conditional logistic regression model. Results Compared with the non-septic group, there were statistically significant differences in gender, age, smoking, alcohol consumption, congestive heart failure, chronic kidney disease(CKD),chronic hepatitis B,liver cirrho-sis,and malignant tumors(all P<0.05).Male gender(OR=2.17,P<0.01),age(OR=1.01,P<0.05),and chronic hepatitis B(OR=1.86,P<0.05)were identified as independent risk factors for sepsis. Conclusion Sepsis was significantly associated with male gender, older age, smoking, and alcohol consumption.Patients with congestive heart failure,CKD,chronic hepatitis B,liver cirrhosis, and malignant tumors were more likely to develop sepsis.Male gender, older age,and chronic hepatitis B were independent risk factors for sepsis.
