Abstract:Objective To study the effectiveness of mindfulness interventions for frontline personnel during sud-den public health emergencies and to examine the mediating effect of perceived social support on the efficacy of mindful-ness interventions. Methods Two hundred frontline medical personnel from March 2021 to April 2022 were selected as study subjects, and were divided into control group and observation group, with 100 subjects in each group.Subjects in control group received conventional psychological interventions and those in observation group received mindfulness inter-ventions.After the interventions, the mindfulness levels, perceived social support, sleep quality, and psychological condi-tions of medical personnel between the two groups were observed. The correlations among these four factors were analyzed, and a mediation analysis model was used to examine the mediating effect of perceived social support on the efficacy of mindfulness interventions. Results After the interventions, the mindfulness levels and scores on the perceived social sup-port scale of medical personnel in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05),with scores of 89.59±8.45 and 88.48±8.53 in the observation group, respectively, and scores of 71.35±7.47 and 76.34±7.58 in the control group, respectively. The sleep quality and anxiety-depression-stress scale scores of medical personnel in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05),with scores of 7.35±1.24 and 16.46±2.29 in the observation group, respectively, and scores of 13.56±2.31 and 29.48±3.05 in the control group, respectively. The mindfulness levels of medical personnel were positively correlated with their perceived social support abilities, and both were negatively correlated with anxiety, depression, stress, and sleep quality.Perceived social support played a mediating role in the relationship between mindfulness levels and the effectiveness of mindfulness interventions. The total effect of mindfulness on sleep quality was-0.347,on anxiety was-0.439,on depression was-0.508,and on stress was-0.395.Conclusion Mindfulness interventions can significantly improve the sleep quality and reduce negative emotions of frontline personnel during sudden public health emergencies, either directly or indirectly through enhancing perceived social support abilities, thus demonstrating significant clinical value.
