Abstract:Objective This study aimed to explore the causal relationship between iron deficiency anemia(IDA)and the risk of colorectal cancer(CRC)using Mendelian randomization(MR)analysis. Methods Data on IDA and CRC were obtained from the UK Biobank database. The inverse variance-weighted(IVW)method was used as the main analytical tool, and weighted median(WM)and MR-Egger regression were used as supplementary analytical methods.Cochran's Q test and MR-Egger regression outcomes were used for sensitivity analysis to ensure the reliability of the re-sults.Results The IVW analysis showed a causal relationship between IDA and CRC(OR=1.284,95%CI:1.037-1.591,P=0.022).Sensitivity analysis further confirmed the consistency and reliability of the analytical results.Conclu-sion There is a causal relationship between IDA and CRC,laying the foundation for further research on the relationship between IDA and the development of CRC.This study aims to explore the causal relationship between iron deficiency ane-mia and the risk of colorectal cancer using the Mendelian randomization approach.
