Clinical characteristics and risk factors of osteoporosis in patients with systemic sclerosis

Abstract：Objective To investigate the prevalence,clinical characteristics and risk factors of osteoporosis in patients with systemic sclerosis(SSc).Methods The clinical data of 48 patients with SSc from January 2021 to April 2022 were collected.The general information,clinical characteristics,bone mineral density and treatment history of the patients were retrospectively analyzed.SPSS23.0 software was used for statistical analysis.Results Among 48 patients with SSc,16(33.3％)patients exhibited osteoporosis and 17(35.4％)patients had osteopenia.There was no signifi-cant difference in the prevalence of osteoporosis or osteopenia among lumbar vertebrae,femoral neck and hip(P＞0.05).Aging was an independent risk factor for osteoporosis in patients with SSc.Only 10.4％of SSc patients received antiosteo-porosis drugs.Conclusion The prevalence of osteoporosis in SSc patients is high,and aging is a risk factor for osteoporo-sis in SSc patients.Clinicians should pay more attention to the prevention,screening and treatment of osteoporosis in pa-tients with SSc.
