Abstract:Objective To detect the expression of serum miRNA-22(miR22)in hepatitis B carriers with co-morbid depression, depression patients, hepatitis B carriers, and healthy controls. Methods A total of 120 human ser-um samples were collected from 4groups(comorbid group, depression group, hepatitis B carrier group, and healthy con-trol group). The expression of miR22-3p and miR22-5p in human serum was detected using fluorescence quantitative PCR(probe method).Basic demographic and clinical characteristics were collected, and the Hamilton Depression Scale was used for assessment.Kruskal-Wallis test,Pearson's method, and Spearman's method were used for correlation anal-ysis.Bonferroni correction was applied to adjust the P-values,and a univariate linear regression model was constructed. Results A total of 120 participants were included in this study. The gene expression levels of miR22-5p and miR22-3p in the comorbid group were significantly higher than those in the depression group, hepatitis B carrier group, and healthy control group(P<0.01).Conclusion miR22 may play an important role in the pathogenesis of comorbid de-pression in chronic HBV carriers by regulating neurotransmitters and target genes through multiple signaling pathways. The expression levels of miR22 can serve as predictive indicators for the treatment of depression associated with hepatitis B vi-rus infection, and can improve early diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of hepatitis B virus infection and depression.
