Abstract:Objective To investigate the correlations between 8-iso-PGF2α and ET-1 levels and cognitive function in patients with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS), and to provide new evidence for intervention in OSAHS patients with cognitive impairment. Methods Eighty-six OSAHS patients were divided into cognitive dysfunction group and cognitive normal group according to the Montreal cognitive assessment scale. The correlations between the levels of ET-1 and 8-iso-PGF2α and cognitive function were analyzed. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves of serum 8-iso-PGF2α, ET-1 levels in predicting cognitive impairment were calculated. Results The levels of serum 8-iso-PGF2α and ET-1 in OSAHS patients with cognitive impairment [ (581.34±271.72) pg/mL and (121.75±74.15) pg/mL] were significantly higher than those in the cognitive normal group [ (401.21±173.94) ng/mL and (76.42±39.92) pg/mL, P<0.05]. Serum 8-iso-PGF2α and ET-1 levels were significantly negatively correlated with MoCA score and subitem scores. And 8-iso-PGF2α was significantly positively correlated with ET-1. The areas under ROC curves of 8-iso-PGF2α and ET-1 in predicting cognitive impairment in OSAHS patients were 0.724 and 0.743, respectively. Conclusion The 8-iso-PGF2α and ET-1 levels in serum of OSAHS patients are negatively correlated with cognitive impairment. They can predict cognitive impairment, with strong specificity.
