Abstract:Objective To investigate the subjective sleep quality, mood and mental health level of obese patients with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS). Methods According to the apnea hypopnea index (AHI) monitored by polysomnography, obese patients were divided into OSAHS group (103 patients) and control group (59 patients). OSAHS group was further divided into severe group (58 patients) and mild-moderate group (45 patients). The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS), Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS), Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90) were for comparison. Results The scores of PSQI, ESS, SAS and SDS in OSAHS group were significantly higher than those in control group, and the scores of ESS, SDS and SAS in severe group were significantly higher than those in mild-moderate group (P<0.05). There were significant differences in total score of SCL-90 and its all factors except for obsessive state between OSAHS group and control group; and between severe group and mild-moderate group (P<0.05).Conclusion The subjective sleep quality, daytime excessive sleepiness, depression, anxiety and mental health of obese patients with OSAHS are all severer than those without OSAHS, and the degree is increased with the severity of OSAHS.
