Abstract:Objective To study the effect of miR-155 on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and its correlation with cytokine IL-35. Methods 30 patients with stable COPD from the respiratory department of our hospital from June 2017 to June 2018, 30 patients with acute exacerbation of COPD (AECOPD group), 30 patients with severe smoking, and 30 healthy controls were enrolled. Each participants were tested with lung function and blood gas analysis. The peripheral blood of each group was extracted, the expression level of miRNA-155 in PBMC of mononuclear cells was detected by RT-PCR, and the expression level of cytokine IL-35 was detected by ELISA. The correlations between miRNA-155 and blood gas index, lung function, and IL-35 were analyzed. Results The expression of miR-155 was the highest in the AECOPD group, and followed by the COPD stable group, severe smoking group and control group. The expression of IL-35 was exactly the opposite. There were significant negative correlations between miR-155 and PO2, FEV1% and IL-35 levels (r=0.739 7, 0.706 2 and 0.652 2, respectively; P<0.01). Conclusion MiR-155 is involved in the pathogenesis of COPD and is an important substance leading to lung injury, which has a negative effect on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
