Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of emodin on neuropathic pain induced by chronic constriction injury. Methods A total of 108 SD rats were randomly divided into sham group , model group, pregabalin group (15 mg/kg), and high-, moderate-, low-dosage emodin groups (100, 50 and 25 mg/mg).Spontaneous pain scores, von Frey hair test, cold plate test, hot plate test and pin prick test were applied to evaluate the effect of emodin on spontaneous pain, mechanical withdrawal threshold , paw cold allodynia , paw withdraw thermal latency and mechanical hyperalgesia , respectively .Results CCI resulted in significant spontaneous pain cold allodynia , mechanical allodynia , mechanical hy-peralgesia and heat hyperalgesia as compared to sham control group (P<0.05).Emodin could significantly attenuate CCI-induced hyperalgesia and allodynia (P<0.05), as the it was most prominent in morderate -dosage group. Conclusion Emodin have analgesia effect on CCI -induced neuropathic pain .
