Abstract:Objective To investigate the association between polymorphism of human leukocyte antigen (HLA-DQB1 and HLA-DRB5) alleles and susceptibility to cervical cancer. Methods 41 patients with cervical cancer and 38controls were selected in Hainan Han population as study objectives.PCR and gene sequencing analysis were used to genotype HLA-DQB1 and HLA-DRB5.Results A total of 12 HLA-DQB1 alleles and 8 HLA-DRB5 alleles were detected in both group. The frequencies of HLA-DQB1 * 06011,HLA-DQB1 * 030101,HLA-DQB1 * 03032 and HLA -DRB5 * 01:01:01 were the commonest alleles in Han female population in Hainan province. In this study,HLA-DRB5 * 02:06 allele was significantly higher in controls (18.4%) compared with patients with cervical cancer (0%,P =0.013).Conclusion HLA-DRB5 * 0206 may be a protective factor from cervical cancer among Hainan Han women, implying that polymorphic amino acids at HLA-DRB5 allele may play an important role in the development of cervical cancer.
