Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) as a treatment for tennis elbow. Methods 23 patients were treated for tennis elbow using PRP in our hospital. We retrospectively reviewed all of those cases.PRP were prepared by a two-step centrifugation process and injected into the pain spots of lateral epicondyle of humerus. To evaluate the function of elbow, the scores of visual analogue scale (VAS), quick disabilities of the arm, shoulder and hand (QuickDASH), and upper extremity functional scale (UEFS) were compared before and 1 day, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 12 months after of treatment. Results No adverse reaction was observed after PRP therapy. The scores of VAS, QuickDASH and UEFS showed a significant tendency in reduction after treatment (P<0.05).Conclusion PRP is a safe and effective treatment for tennis elbow.
