Expression of IL-11 and IL-11R in epithelial ovarian cancers

Abstract：Objective To investigate the expression of IL-11 and IL-11RA in epithelial ovarian cancers (EOCs).Methods The protein expression of IL-11 and IL-11RA in 108 cases of EOCs were assessed by immunohistochemistry.Results The positive rates of IL-11 in ovarian endometrioid carcinoma, ovarian serous cystadenocarcinoma, ovary mucinous cystadenocarcinoma and ovarian clear cell carcinoma were 78.79%, 74.29%, 50.00% and 40.63%, respectively.Compared with benign ovarian neoplasm, the expression of IL-11 was significantly increased in EOCs (P<0.05).The expression of IL-11 showed no statistical correlation with age in EOCs (P>0.05).The expression of IL-11 was significantly correlated with clinical stage of EOCs (P<0.05).The expression of IL-11 was significantly increased in EOCs with peritoneal metastasis (P<0.05).IL-11RA was highly expressed in associated benign ovarian neoplasm and EOCs.Conclusion The expression of IL-11 is significantly correlated with EOCs.The expression of IL-11RA plays a synergistic role in EOCs.The high expression of IL-11 is close relevant to peritoneal metastasis in EOCs, suggesting a potential target for the treatment of ovarian cancers.
