Abstract:Objective To analyze the correlation between serotonin transporter promoter polymorphism (5-HTTLPR) and the susceptibility to chemotherapy-related fatigue in colorectal cancer. Methods The data of 5-HTTLPR genotypes and clinical data of 121 patients with colorectal cancer were retrospectively analyzed. The peripheral blood and clinicopathological data were collected. The correlations between 5-HTTLPR genotype and clinical pathological factors were analyzed by chi-square test.Unconditional logistic regression model was used to analyze the association between 5-HTTLPR variant and colorectal cancer chemotherapy-related fatigue. Results Chi-square test showed that chemotherapy-related fatigue was associated with 5-HTTLPR genotype (P=0.025).Unconditional logistic regression model showed that patients with genotype SS had a significantly higher risk of moderate to severe chemotherapy-related fatigue (OR=8.225, 95% CI 1.694~39.927, P=0.009) than genotype LL.Conclusion The genotype SS of 5-HTTLPR variant is an independent risk factor for moderate to severe chemotherapy-related fatigue in colorectal cancer.
