Intact bistable perception in patients with first-episode schizophrenia

Abstract:Objective To explore the bistable perception in first-episode schizophrenia patients.Methods Eighteen first-episode schizophrenia patients and 18 healthy controls were recruited,to detect the switching frequency and time of duration when viewed two kinds of ambiguous figures (the static face-vase ambiguous figure and the dynamic structure ambiguous figure).Results There were no significant difference between patients and healthy controls in the switching frequency and time of duration in these two kinds of materials.Further analysis also showed that there was no significant correlation between these indicators and the positive or negative symptoms scale or the social function scale in schizophrenia.Conclusion Bistable perception in patients with first-episode schizophrenia remain intact.
