Abstract：Objective To investigate empowerment and self -efficacy in patients with chronic diseases in our community and to analyze the correlation between them .Methods The long-term condition empowerment scale and self-efficacy scale were carried out on 104 patients with chronic diseases in community .Results The self-efficacy score in community patients with chronic diseases was 22.04 ±6.17, at the up medium level; as the empowerment score was 122.83 ±27.0, and the "knowledge acquisition and understanding"and "identity"dimensions had the highest score a-mong all five dimensions .There was significant differences among different education levels , occupations , the course and marriage situation (P<0.05).Self-efficacy was significantly positively correlated with empowerment total score and all dimensions.Conclusion Community patients with chronic diseases have strong confidence in managing themselves , but some patients are lack of medical insurance knowledge for long -term condition in china .To improve patients empower-ment level, community medical workers should give specific efforts on it .
