Abstract:Objective To observe the effect of mengoferin monosodium salt on insulin resistance in mice with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods Intraperitoneal injection of streptozocin (STZ, 150 mg/kg) combined with high fat diet feeding was given to mice to induce a pathological model of insulin resistance type 2 diabetes .The influence of mengo-ferin monosodium salt (50 and 100 mg/kg were given by gavage once a day for 2 weeks) on the fasting plasma glucose (FBG), fasting insulin (FINS), oral glucose tolerance (OGTT), serum low density lipoprotein (LDL-C) and triglycer-ide (TG) levels, as well as the mRNA expression of glucose transporter -4 (GLUT4) and insulin receptor (InsR) were evaluated. Results Compared with the model group , the serum level of FBG , TG, LDL-C were significantly reduced by low and high-dose of mengoferin monosodium salt in insulin resistance mice .Besides, mengoferin monosodium salt in-creased insulin sensitivity , improved sugar tolerance and ISI , and lowered HOMA-IR index. The expression of GLUT4 and InsR mRNA were also up-regulated by the treatment of mengoferin monosodium salt .Conclusion Mengoferin mon-osodium salt can improve glycolipid metabolism , increase insulin sensitivity in type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance .
