Abstract:Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of DC -CIK combined with Sorafenib in advanced re-nal cell carcinoma .Methods Sixty-four patients with advanced renal cell carcinoma were randomly divided into two groups, the experimental group (32 patients) and the control group (32 patients). In the control group, the patients were treated by Sorafenib , and in the experimental group , the patients were treated by Sorafenib with DC -CIK.DCR, ORR, quality of life, toxicity and PFS were observed and compared between the two groups .Results One patient in each group was withdrawn from the study because of the cost of treatment .A total of 31 cases in the experimental group and 31 cases in the control group have been evaluated eventually .( 1 ) DCR ( 83.87% vs 80.65%, P >0.05 ) , ORR ( 19.23% vs 19.23%, P>0.05) were similar between the two groups .(2) Compared with the control group , there was a significantly prolonged median PFS in the experimental group (12 months vs 10 months, P<0.05).(3) Improved quality of life were found in the experimental group according to Karnofsky score (90.33%vs 64.52%, P<0.05).Symptoms, such as anep-ithymia, somnipathy and fatigue, were significantly improved in the experimental group than in control group (P<0.05). (4)The side-effects in two groups were similar, including the hand-foot skin syndrome, the digestive effect, hyperten-sion, systemic response and liver dysfunction (P>0.05).Only two patients had a fever in the experimental group , with an occurrence of 6.5%.No serious side-effects were discovered .Conclusion Combination of DC-CIK and Solafenib prolongs the progression -free survival , improves the quality of life , and reduces adverse reactions in patients with ad-vanced renal cell carcinoma .
