Correlation of arterial elasticity with ox-LDL, IL-6 and MMP-3 in patients with mild stenosis of coronary ar-tery

Abstract：Objective To investigate the changes of arterial elasticity , levels of ox-LDL, IL-6 and MMP-3 and their clinical significance in patients with mild stenosis of coronary artery .Methods One hundred and thirty -two patients who underwent coronary angiography were divided into three groups according to the result of CAG :coronary heart disease group, the group with mild stenosis of coronary artery and control group .Brachial -ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV), which reflected arterial elasticity, was measured by a Colin system.Serum levels of ox -LDL, IL-6 and MMP-3 were measured via ELISA before angiography in all subjects .Results Statistically significant differences were observed among three groups in baPWV and the levels of ox -LDL, IL-6 and MMP-3 (P<0.05).Comparing with the control group, there were significant increases in baPWV and levels of ox -LDL, IL-6 in the group with mild stenosis of coronary artery (P<0.05).Levels of MMP-3 were not significantly different between the two groups (P>0.05).baP-WV was positively correlated with ox -LDL and IL-6 (r=0.472,0.523; P<0.001).The correlation remained after control for risk factors of atherosclerosis such as smoking , hypertension and diabetes (r=0.435, 0.506; P<0.01). Conclusion Changes of arterial elasticity is correlated with inflammation and oxidative stress in patients with mild steno -sis of coronary artery , which indicates their contribution to occurrence and development of early coronary atherosclerosis . Detection of these indicators may predict mild stenosis of coronary arteries .
