Abstract:Objective To investigate the relevance between white matter lesions levels of plasma PPAR-γand plasma vitamin B12 .Methods 140 cases of white matter lesions and cerebral infarction proved by CT and MRI, as well as cases without white matter lesions were selected.Plasma PPAR-γand vitamin B12 levels were measured and compared between groups. Results In comparison of plasma PPAR-γlevels, patients with cerebral infarction or white matter le-sions had higher plasma PPAR-γconcentration than that of patients with normal head MRI or SCT, with a statistically significant difference ( P<0.05) .In comparison of levels of vitamin B12 , the vitamin B12 concentration of patients with white matter lesions only was higher than that of patients with combined cerebral infarction and white matter lesions or with cerebral infarction alone, with a statistically significant difference (P<0.05).Conclusion Increased levels of plasma PPAR-γand decreased levels of plasma vitamin B12 are related to the severity of cerebrovascular lesions in patients with white matter lesions. Both of them are not only closely related with macroangiopathy but with white matter lesions resulting from small vessel vasculopathy.
