Abstract:Objective To assess the risk of the acute disseminated encephalomyelitis(ADEM)after vaccination. Methods Based on the vaccinated population from 2011 to 2013,the incidences of ADEM among different age groups from 2008 to 2010 obtained from epidemiological investigation in Guangdong province were taken as control, one - tailed cumulative probability of Poisson distribution was calculated to assess the risk of ADEM after vaccination in Guangdong Province during 2011 - 2013. Results There were eight ADEM cases among vaccination population in Guangdong Prov-ince during 2011 - 2013. The one - tailed cumulative probability of the occurrence of ADEM after vaccination each year varied from 0. 684 9 to 0. 999 3. Conclusion There is no statistically significant difference in ADEM incidence between those who received vaccination and the general population from 2011 to 2013 in Guangdong Province, suggesting vaccina-tion doesn't increase the risk of ADEM.
