Clinical significance of abnormal expression of miR-139-5p in gastric cancer

Abstract：Objective To investigate the expression of miR -139-5p and its association with clinicopathologic features in gastric cancer.Methods The expression level of miR -139 -5p in 30 cases of gastric cancer and matched non -tumor adjacent tissue specimens was examined using reverse transcription real -time PCR.The correlation between the expression of miR -139 -5p and the clinicopathologic features of gastric cancer was studied .The expression of miR -139 -5p in four gastric cancer cell lines and normal human gastric epithelial cells was also detected .Results The ex-pression of miR -139 -5p was significantly down -regulated in tumor tissues than that in the adjacent tissues (P <0.05).There was significant difference in miR -139 -5p expression among cases w /o lymph node metastasis group and with different TNM stages (P <0.05).However, there was no significant difference in miR -139 -5p expression among cases with different genders, ages, tumor sizes or tumor differentiation (P >0.05).The expression of miR -139 -5p in gastric cancer cell lines was significantly down -regulated than that of normal human gastric epithelial cells .Conclusion The expression of miR -139 -5p in gastric cancer tissues and cells is down -regulated, and associated with metastasis .
