Abstract:Objective The application of diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) was used to explore the white matter in -tegrity in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD).Methods Brain MR imaging using T1, T2 and DTI se-quences was performed in 38 subjects (21 depressed patients and 17 controls).Voxelwise statistical analysis of FA data was performed using voxel -based analysis (VBA).Results In patients with MDD, significant reduction in FA, an un-specific measure of microstructural tissue integrity , were found in the right cunues, right calcarine, the inside of left fron-tal gyrus, left anterior cingulate cortex, left limbic central gyrus, right prefrontal cortex, right lingual gyrus, right posterior cingulated and left precentral gyrus (P <0.001).Conclusion The reduction of FA values in brain suggests white matter microstructure of patients with MDD was impaired .
