Abstract:Objective The expression of TGF -β1 and Smad2/3 in endometrium were investigated to explore its correlation with intrauterine adhesions ( IUA) .Methods The protein expression of TGF-β1 and Smad2/3 was examined by immunohistochemical analysis in 59 patients with IUA as study group and 21 patients as control group .The study group was subdivided into three subgroups according to the severity of adhesion , mild IUA, moderate IUA, and severe IUA sub-groups .Results There was a rising tendency of TGF -β1 and Smad2/3 protein expression from mild adhesion to sever ad-hesion.Compared with control group , the expression of TGF-β1 and Smad2/3 in the endometrium were significantly in-creased in both moderate IUA subgroup and severe IUA subgroup (P<0.001).Conclusion The overexpression of TGF -β1 and Smad2/3 in endometrium may take part in the occurrence of IUA .
