Abstract:Objective To observe the endoscopic and clinical features of henoch -sch?nlein purpura in children , thus to investigate the correlation between them .Methods To analyze endoscopic results and clinical features of 172 children with henoch -sch?nlein purpura in our hospital .According to severity of mucosa damage under endoscopy , the children were divided into two groups .The total time of abdominal pain , the time of abdominal pain after admission , the hospital stay , the fasting time and the rate of HSPN were compared between the two groups .Results Endoscopy revealed mucosa hyperemia, edema, rough, erosion, bleeding and ulcers; mostly in descendent and antrum of stomach were ob-served in 169 cases.Duodenum ulcerations were observed in 5 cases (2.9%) only.Esophageal and gastric cardia mucosa was involved only in 1 case. There was no significant difference was observed in the total time of abdominal pain , the time of abdominal pain after admission, the hospital stay, the fasting time or rate of HSPN between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion The endoscopic findings of henoch -sch?nlein purpura in children are bleeding and erosion of gastric and duodenal mucosa , while duodenal ulcer occasionally occurs .The severity of mucosa damage under endoscopy of henoch -sch?nlein purpura in children is not correlated with the total time of abdominal pain , the hospital stay , the fasting time or the rate of kidney damage in hospital .
