Abstract:Objective To study the risk factors of subclinical thyroid dysfunction in patients with metabolic syn -drome ( MS) and thus to investigate the correlation among them .Methods A total of 44 patients with subclinical thyroid dysfunction and MS were studied , with 52 healthy subjects as control group .TSH, FT3 , FT4 , TG, TC, LDL-C, HDL-C, Glu, BP and BMI were assessed .Results Compared to the control group , the levels of THS, TC and LDL-C of Group Ⅱ( hypothyroidism ) were significantly changed ( P<0.05);while no significant change in Glu , BP, BMI, TG or HDL-C was observed (P>0.05).The level of Glu of Group Ⅰ(hyperthyroidism) was significantly higher than that of control group ( P <0.05 ) .Conclusion Subclinical hypothyroidism can cause dyslipidemia , probably inducing MS;while in patients with subclinical hyperthyroidism , high level of Glu may be the key factors for MS .
