The synergistic anti-cervical cancer effects of andrographolide and cisplatin

Abstract：Objective To evaluate the synergistic effect of andrographolide and cosplatin on the apoptosis of cer -vical cancer HeLa cells , and to investigate the role of Caspase signal system in this process .Methods After treated by andrographolide and(or) cisplatin, the survival rate of HeLa cells was detected by MTS , while the cellular apoptosis was determined by flow cytometry , and the expression of Caspase -3, -8, -9 and PARP was examined by Western blot . Results As compared with single drug treatment , andrographolide plus cisplatin treatment could significantly reduce the survival of HeLa cells, induce HeLa cellsapoptosis , activate Caspase-3, -8, -9 and thus induce PARP cutting .Con-clusion Andrographolide and cisplatin possess synergistic effects on inhibiting cell proliferation and inducing cell apopto -sis of HeLa cells , which may be related to the activation of the Caspase system .
